Power Chords C-A-E-G
Pro Tips:
Pro Tip:
Focus on the accent pattern, make it as clear as possible.
Use all downstrokes.
With this power chord exercise there is an accent on beat one, beat two, and the off beat of three and beat four. The other eighth notes are palm muted. Notice how the accents switch from down beats the first half of each measure, to off beats in the second half of each measure.
This exercise begins with a standard C power chord shape that is on the third fret fifth string. The second chord moves to a A power chord from the fifth fret sixth string.
The third chord is a E power chord which is on the sixth string. The last measure is a G power chord on the third fret, sixth string.
Palm mute all the eighth notes in the chord progression, with the exception of the accented beats. Also, use all down strokes though the whole progression, this will also help to make the chords sound a bit heaver, and will add more of a driving effect to the progression.
