Blues Lick 2
Pro Tips:
Pro Tip:
Use a little gain on your amp to get a bluesy tone.
Once you feel ready, use the backing track to practice with.
Blues lick 2 is two measure bluesy phrase that starts in the first position. This lick uses the F pentatonic scale. Begin by playing the first fret on the fourth string on the down beat of one. Next play the third fret with your third finger before moving back to the first fret. Play the third fret on the third string. End the lick on the first fret, let the note ring and add a little vibrato for good measure. Notice how this lick ends on the minor third of the key. This helps the phrase to sound unfinished.
The goal to this exercise is to learn a short musical phrase that you can play in all twelve keys. This gives you a chance to work on your phrasing, tone, and technique all at the same time. Add a little vibrato to the last note of the lick by shaking the string a little at the end of the lick.
