This C Minor Pentatonic Scale exercise. This type of scale is used in thousands of guitar solos and is something that every guitar player should be comfortable with. This scale drill is the five patterns the C minor pentatonic scale covering the whole guitar neck. Start this exercise on pattern five on the third fret of the sixth string. Play through the scale up to the first string and back down. Make sure you repeat the highest note on each box to keep all the patterns in an even sixteenth note grouping. When you get back to the third fret on the sixth string, quickly switch to the sixth fret with the first finger and play through pattern seven.
After pattern seven switch to the eighth fret and play through pattern one. Next is pattern three from the eleventh fret, and then pattern four from the thirteenth fret. Once you get through pattern four on the thirteenth fret, shift to the eleventh fret on the sixth string and play pattern three again. Continue to work your way back down the neck playing through each pattern. When you get through pattern five on the third fret, shift right to pattern seven again. Play through the whole sequence up to the twelfth fret and back down with hammer-ons and pull-offs. End the exercise on the third fret sixth string.
