C Major Scales
Pro Tips:
Pro Tip:
This scale drill is all in sixteenth notes. Its important to keep each note even. Make sure you can count the even beats with each note. 1 e and a, 2 e and a, so on and so on.
The tricky part to this drill is the quick switches from pattern to pattern. It’s important to keep them in time.
This major scale exercise is designed to help you better memorize the seven patterns of the major scale across the whole neck, in the key of C on the guitar. It’s really helpful to already be comfortable with each pattern before you try to take on this exercise. The individual major scale exercises and the major scales from the fifth fret will help you with this.
Begin with pattern four on the first fret. Play up and down the scale. Move right to pattern five from the third fret. Pattern six is on the fifth fret. Pattern seven is starts on the seventh fret. Pattern one is on the eighth fret. Pattern two is played on the tenth fret, and pattern three is on the twelfth fret. Once you get to pattern three on the twelfth fret, move back to pattern two on the tenth fret. From there work your way back down the neck playing through each pattern.
