Pro Tip:
play everything as clean and as clear as you can.
Use the backing tracks to practice without guitar on the track.
Count the triplets one-and-a to help you subdivide the rhythm.
This major scale exercise is designed to help you better memorize the seven patterns of the major scale across the whole neck, in the key of G on the guitar. We are working on alternate picking, right and left hand coordination, fretboard memorization, and learning not only the G major scale, but also the notes on the neck.
Begin with pattern seven on the second fret. Play up and down the scale. Move to pattern one from the third fret. Pattern two is on the fifth fret. Pattern three is starts on the seventh fret. Pattern four is on the eighth fret. Pattern five is played on the tenth fret, and pattern six is on the twelfth fret. Once you get to pattern six on the twelfth fret, move back to pattern five on the tenth fret. From there work your way back down the neck playing through each pattern.
We are working in eighth note triplets with a quarter note at the end of each scale pattern. Each scale pattern fits inside of three bars this way.
