Finger Tapping Arpeggios In G
This finger tapping etude outlines three note arpeggios over corresponding chords in the key of G. You will see this technique used by hundreds of guitar players. Guys such as Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, Paul Gilbert, Reb Beach, Stanley Jordan, and many many more all make this technique a huge part of their playing. You will find this to be a very useful technique to have at your fingertips. Start by tapping the fifteenth fret on the second string with your picking hand. Pull-off to the eighth fret with the first finger on the fretting hand next, hammer-on to the twelfth fret with your pinky finger with your fretting hand. Repeat this triplet pattern three more times to complete measure one. Bar two is the same pattern on the first string. Measure three is the fifteenth fret with your picking hand and the seventh and tenth fret with your fretting hand. Bar four moves to the first string on the fourteenth, seventh, and tenth frets.
Measure five switches things up a little by doing the twelfth, fifth, and eighth frets on the first string twice, and then the same pattern on the second string twice. Bar six is twelve fourth, and seventh frets on the third string two times, then back to the twelve, fifth, and eighth frets twice on the second string. Measure seven is outlining the B minor chord with the twelfth, seventh, and tenth frets. Halfway through this bar move the tapped note to the fifteenth fret. Measure eight is on the fourteenth, seventh, and tenth frets. After playing through, repeat the whole eight bars. We are ending on the seventh fret first string.
If you take the time to dig into the arpeggios measure by measure, you will find that each one outlines each chord in a very cool way. The first bar outlines a G chord perfectly with the notes, (G B D) The root, third, and fifth. Are you able to find the notes on the other shapes? There is a CHALLENGE for you. Send me a message, I would love to hear from you and see what you come up with!
